Board of Directors Meeting Highlights – June 18, 2026

The College Board of Directors convened on June 18, 2026, with strong participation from Directors attending in person and virtually. Mr. Peter Christensen, Assistant Director, Integrity Policy & Programs from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), attended the meeting as Ministerial Observer pursuant to s. 76 of the College Act.  

The Board of Directors approved the following items: 

  • Annual General Meeting Location and Format 2026
    The Board approved the Annual General Meeting Location and format for 2026. Additional details will be shared with licensees in the coming months.
  • Maximum Compensation Fund Claim Amount
    The Board approved a maximum compensation award of $7,000 per eligible claim for the proposed Compensation Fund, reflecting a balance between public protection and long-term fund sustainability based on actuarial analysis.
  • Draft Budget for Fiscal 2027
    The Board approved the Draft Budget for Fiscal 2027 to support the College’s operational priorities and ongoing regulatory responsibilities.
  • Extension of the 2023-2026 Strategic Plan
    The Board approved the extension of the 2023–2026 Strategic Plan by one year to June 2027 to support organizational stability during the current regulatory transition and alignment with finalized government regulations and updated by-laws.

Additional matters reviewed by the Board included:

  • Update on Regulatory Framework: New regulations are set to come into effect on July 15, 2026. There was a strong emphasis on the College’s readiness to implement these, particularly within the Registration and Professional Conduct departments.
  • Financial Review: The Board reviewed the financial results for the period that ended March 31, 2026, as part of its ongoing oversight responsibilities.

Full minutes of this Board meeting will be posted on the College website upon approval by the Board at its next meeting, to be scheduled on an approved date on September 24, 2026.
